There is nothing more beautiful than a confident smile
Our policy at Combe Road is that prevention is better than cure. We really care about oral health, so we aim to keep your teeth and gums strong and healthy to avoid the need for fillings and other treatment. As we place a strong emphasis on preventative dentistry, we believe it vital to see children from the earliest age to ensure that they grow up with healthy teeth and gums. To support this we offer FREE appointments to develop “Patient’s Prevention Plans” (PPP) to stop problems before they arise.
Of course, sometimes you will need more than routine dental check-ups. The dentists and staff at Combe Road can offer you comprehensive dental care in a friendly and relaxed environment. We have a wide range of services ranging from free oral health care appointments to more advanced oral surgery – including cosmetics and implants. And if you’re a nervous patient, we can carry out your treatment under sedation.
Janet Barker opened her practice in Portishead in 1994. Initially, there was just Janet with one nurse working from a single surgery. However, the practice expanded rapidly and we now have 3 surgeries: one used primarily by Janet, one for Dr Richard Mears and one for Anne Wynne, our hygienist. The ground floor surgery is available for patients who cannot manage the stairs. In 2008 we expanded further by establishing our own dental laboratory on the premises so that we could take greater control of the quality and timeliness of dentures, crowns, bridges etc.
The practice is located in Combe Road, Portishead close to the High Street and within a few yards of convenient bus stops. We have a small car park and there is also free on-road parking close by.
Thinking of joining our Dental Practice?
Your first visit
Our friendly staff will welcome you on your first visit to the practice. Pre check- up nerves are common, but we aim to do all we can to make you feel at ease by discussing any concerns you have.
We ask all new patients to fill in a confidential medical history form. During your check-up your dentist will make a thorough examination of your mouth to assess the condition of your teeth and gums.
Usually, this will include a couple of X-rays to ensure we catch any problems that cannot be seen by just visual examination.
We will discuss your treatment plan with you and give you a written estimate of what you need and how much it will cost. At Combe Road we believe that prevention is better than cure, so all our patients will be offered free of charge an appointment with one of our specially qualified oral health educators who will give you advice on how to improve your oral health and reduce the need for dental treatment in the future.
