Children's Dentistry

The emphasis at our practice is very much on dental health education and prevention. We provide preventive advice free to both parents and children - this covers tooth brushing, diet and eating habits. Keeping your child’s primary teeth (also called baby or deciduous teeth) in good condition will help the permanent teeth to erupt in the right place and reduce the need for later orthodontic treatment. It will also reduce the chance of toothache and abscesses.

Sometimes of course your child may have problems and need a filling. We offer both white and silver fillings as appropriate.

Deciduous teeth can be difficult to restore beyond simple fillings. One of the recent developments in children’s dentistry is the adoption of stainless steel crowns. These have been shown to last far better than large fillings. Stainless steel crowns come in standard sizes (unlike made-to-measure crowns for adults), and therefore cost just the same as a standard filling.
