	Dr Janet Barker BDS MFGDP DPDS
	Principle Dentist
	Janet qualified with Honours from the Royal London Hospital in 1977. She completed two further Diplomas in General Dental Practice and Post Graduate Dental Surgery. As the practice principal, she places great emphasis on Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and all practice members are encouraged to undertake regular training courses. Dr Vassia Karpeta
Associate Dentist
Dr Vassia Karpeta joined the practice in February 2010. Vassia qualified as a dentist from the University “Carol Davila” of Bucharest in 1997 and worked as a dentist in Greece before moving to Bristol in 2000. Vassia holds the Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies (DPDS) and the Diploma in Seagoing Dental Studies (DSDS) from the University of Bristol Dental School. General Dental Council No: 76952

	Dr Simon Ernst BDS
	Associate Dentist
	Simon has joined the practice to enable us to offer more evening appointments. He graduated from dentistry at the University of Bristol in June 2006 and has a particular interest in Oral Surgery. After graduating, he spent a year in the National Health Service followed by 6 months volunteering as a Dental Surgeon in Tanzania, Uganda and South Africa. Since his return to the UK he has worked in several hospitals in South Wales and the South West as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He currently splits his time between private general practice and as a Speciality Doctor in Oral Surgery and the Bristol Dental Hospital. General Dental Council No: 103291

Dr Yvonne Pemberton BDS
Associate Dentist
Yvonne qualified at Cardiff in 1976. After qualifying she worked at Cardiff Dental Hospital and then moved to Bristol Dental Hospital where she worked for 11/2 years. Yvonne joined Alan Durbin’s practice at Gardner Road in 1984 and worked there until 2004 when she joined Combe Road. General Dental Council No: 50637

	Hygienist
	Ann qualified as a hygienist at Bristol Dental Hospital in 1993 and joined the practice in February 2005. Ann is married with 2 children, Aiman and Joseph. General Dental Council No: 44581

Jenny Ford RDN
Dental Nurse
Jenny started dental nursing in 1978 and has worked in Nailsea, Southampton and Portishead. She gained her RDN qualifications in 1992 whilst working at the Gardner Road Dental practice. Jenny worked at Gardner Road for 18 years before moving to Combe Road in 2004. Jenny is married, with 2 daughters and one granddaughter. General Dental Council No: 109720

	Trudy Stone RDN OHE
	Dental Nurse & Oral Health Educator
	Trudy joined the practice in 2002 and works part time as a Dental Nurse. She qualified as an Oral Health Educator in 1989. Trudy has two small children who keep her busy. General Dental Council No: 109717

Heather Fionda RDN
Dental Nurse
Heather worked as a dental nurse some years ago and has had a varied career since. She took up dental nursing again with this practice in 2000 and has since taken and passed her National Dental Nursing Diploma following a course at Bristol Dental Hospital. She lives locally and has a grown up son and a daughter at university. General Dental Council No: 109727

	Sandra (Lu) Black RDN OHE
	Dental Nurse & Oral Health Educator
	Lu qualified as a Dental Nurse at Cardiff Hospital in 1978 and has adapted to the changes in dentistry by attending many courses to update her knowledge. As part of her CPD, she has qualified as an Oral Health Educator and a Support to Stop Smoking Advisor. Lu came to the practice in the early days of 1995. Her son is at work and her daughter is at university. General Dental Council No: 110519

Sharron Webber RDN OHE
Dental Nurse & Oral Health Educator
Sharron has been at this practice since it opened in 1994. Previously she had had many years experience of Dental Nursing and qualified in 1995 with Merit at Bristol Dental Hospital. In continuing her postgraduate training she completed and passed her Oral Health Educators certificate with Merit in 1999 and is a qualified First Aider. Sharron is currently undertaking a part-time degree in Counselling. General Dental Council No: 115398

	Nash Blundell
	Dental Technician
	Nash joined the practice part-time in August 2007 and worked with Janet to set up our dental laboratory. He joined us full-time in May 2008. Nash qualified at the Brooklands Technical College in 1980 and had his own dental laboratory in Bristol from 1992 prior to joining the team at Combe Road. General Dental Council No: 118369

Sarah Rossiter
Receptionist
Sarah joined the practice in July 2007 as a full-time receptionist. She comes from Clevedon and has worked previously as a receptionist in a beauty salon and as a customer services officer for Lloyds Bank.

	Richard (Dick) Barker CEng MCMI
	Administrator
	Dick is Janet’s husband. He works part-time as the practice administrator, looking after some of the paperwork and various maintenance jobs around the practice. He also works on reception occasionally to cover when other staff are on holiday or off sick.

Rachael Harris
Receptionist
Rachael has lived in Portishead for 15 years and has worked at the practice since 1999. She is married, with two daughters and a grandson.

	Dr Colin Barker BSc PhD PGCMP
	Web Master
	Colin is Janet's son. Based in Newmarket, he is a Post-Doctoral molecular biologist developing tests for diseases in Horses. As he also has an interest in computing, he developed and maintains the surgery website.
